Bringing home your baby is a season unlike any other. The days are slow, the nights are long, and somehow the weeks pass in the blink of an eye. As a York newborn photographer, I create relaxed, baby-led newborn sessions that preserve these first memories without adding stress to an already busy time.
Whether you'd love timeless studio portraits or a cozy in-home newborn session, I'll guide you through every step so you can simply enjoy your growing family.
Collin Newborn
Cooper Newborn
Over the years I've photographed dozens of York County families, from first babies to growing families welcoming baby number four. Below are a few favorite newborn sessions from York, including both studio portraits and in-home sessions throughout York County.
Collin's York, PA studio newborn session was filled with timeless portraits and sweet family moments. He was calm, sleepy, and gave us the opportunity to create a beautiful variety of posed newborn images before finishing with mom and dad. Every studio newborn session includes access to my wraps, props, and client closet, making the experience simple and stress-free for growing families throughout York and Central PA.
One of the biggest questions I get from parents is, "What if my baby stays awake?" The answer is... that's completely okay!
Cooper decided he wanted to check everything out during part of his newborn session, and honestly, I love the variety it gave us. As long as your baby is calm, content, and comfortable, we'll happily capture both those bright-eyed moments and the sleepy, snuggly portraits everyone loves.
Newborn sessions are always baby-led. If your little one wants to sleep, we'll photograph sleepy poses. If they're wide awake and peacefully taking in the world, we'll document that too. Like I always tell my families... your baby is in charge, and we simply follow their lead. Those little expressions and curious eyes are just as much a part of their story as those dreamy sleepy poses.
Ford's in-home newborn session in York, PA was such a special one. His nursery was filled with the sweetest little nods to his name, making the space feel so personal and thoughtfully designed. We were also treated to beautiful weather, so we stepped outside for a few family portraits—a perfect reminder that in-home sessions are flexible and can easily incorporate outdoor spaces when the light and weather are just right. Those little spontaneous moments often become some of my favorite images from the day.
I've photographed hundreds of newborns, and a huge number of them came from right here in York County. My studio sits just off I-83 in York Haven, which means for most York families this is the closest full-service newborn studio around. No hauling a days-old baby to Harrisburg or Lancaster.
When you book your newborn session with me, you can expect:
- A short drive with a brand new baby.
Most York families reach my studio in 15 to 20 minutes. When you're running on newborn sleep, that matters more than you'd think.
- Everything's waiting when you arrive.
Wraps, bonnets, outfits for baby, and a client wardrobe for mom. Leave the house with the diaper bag and nothing else.
- Baby-led, never rushed.
Feed, snuggle, and settle as often as your baby needs. Sessions are scheduled with buffer time so nothing feels hurried.
- Or stay home entirely.
If a session in your own York home sounds easier, I offer in-home lifestyle newborns throughout York County.
"Kate squeezed us into her busy schedule the next day, my newborn being 8 days old, and was so professional! She captured the most precious newborn photos of our sweet girl and us, and had so many props, wraps, and backdrops for our shoot."
Loretta, York, PA
Located just off I-83 in York Haven, my studio is an easy drive for families throughout York, East York, Dallastown, Red Lion, Shrewsbury, Spring Grove, and the surrounding York County area. For families who'd rather stay home during those first few weeks, I also travel throughout York County for in-home newborn sessions.
After photographing York County families for years, I've learned that every family values something different. Some love the simplicity of coming to my fully stocked studio, while others prefer documenting these first days at home in the nursery they've spent months preparing. I offer both so you never have to fit into a one-size-fits-all experience.
The best time for your York Newborn Photoshoot is when your newborn baby is between 7 to 21 days old. This is when they are sleepiest and usually easiest to settle. After this time, newborn babies can become harder to settle and this is when things like baby acne and colic can set in.
Your newborn session can take place in my Etters, PA studio or in your Central PA home depending on the type of session you choose. Posed newborns take place in the studio only. Lifestyle newborns can be held in your home or in my studio.
I recommend reaching out when you are in your second trimester to book your newborn session. I will add your due date on my calendar and once baby arrives, we will schedule you!
Newborn sessions are baby led and therefore no two sessions are exactly the same. But on average you should expect to be at the studio for around 2 hours or have me in your home for around 90 minutes.
